Instructions for using the Cooling Probe with Tecal 650F Portable Field Block Calibrator

1.  OPERATION OF THE UNIT BELOW AMBIENT TEMPERATURE

Ensure that the unit is not at high temperature.
Insert the cooling probe into the 3/8in diameter well
Circulate at least 1 liter per minute of chilled water (or antifreeze mix) through the cooling probe.  The temperature of the chilled water should be at least 10°C below the required block control temperature

DO NOT control the block at less than ambient dewpoint as condensate will collect on the outer surface of the block and accumulate within the unit and may cause damage

2.  RAPID COOLING OF THE BLOCK

To rapidly cool a heated block connect the cooling probe to a water tap and drain to waste.
Adjust the flow to a minimum of 1 liter per minute.
The water MUST be flowing through the cooling probe BEFORE it is inserted into the block.
Insert the probe into the 3/8" diameter well.
When the required temperature has been reached, remove the cooling probe from the block BEFORE turning off the water.
