Photometrics Mode
On-board RNA/DNA Analytical Software
Stored in the permanent memory are the wavelengths, calculations and factors necessary for analysis of proteins, DNA/RNA, and oligonucleotides. Corrections can be made by subtraction at a third wavelength and multiplication by factors. A variable ratio mode allows the user to change the wavelengths and factors allowing for fine adjustment and greater accuracy. The Genova is also ideal for OD 600 bacterial measurements.
On-board Protein Analytical Software
Protein methods include Bradford, Lowry, Biuret, Biccinchonic, and direct UV methods. Measurement is by standard curve and can be accomplished by calibration of up to 6 standard solutions or by manual entry. The curve can be viewed as a graphic or as a data list, while statistics show the terms used for the calculated quadratic curve fit. When analyzing an unknown sample against the curve, a tri-display of wavelength, concentration and absorbencies is easily read on the large LCD. The protein software also features a direct UV mode that does not use a calibration curve, but utilizes readings at 280nm and 260nm.
Method Storage
Allows the user to save up to 10 protein calibration curve methods, for easy recall. The method settings and the last date and time the method was modified are simultaneously displayed.
Purity Scans
This mode allows a user to optimize measurements by zeroing in on peak absorbance wavelengths. Scans can be performed over the entire wavelength range of 198 to 1000nm, in increments of 100nm at 1nm intervals. An easy to read graphical representation of absorbance versus wavelength is displayed, with a final statistical display of peak absorbance and wavelength. A hard copy printout can be obtained by one touch of the print key.
RS232 and Analogue Outputs
The RS232 port allows the user to print data out directly or download data to a PC through HyperTerminal with a single touch of the print key.
Security Lock
The instrument lock mechanism prevents operating parameters of the unit from being changed and is protected by a three digit locking code.
Self-Calibration
Upon startup, a self-calibration test is performed at 3-wavelengths, 247nm, 528nm, and 824nm to ensure G.L.P. (Good Laboratory Practice) compliant operation. If the unit does not pass the test, a message will be displayed.
Versatile Sampling System
The Genova is standard with a 10 x 10mm cuvette holder. Accessories can be easily interchanged and include:
Small Footprint
The unit is only 10.3 inches wide, 7.6 inches deep, 4.5 inches high, and weighs only 13 pounds. It saves valuable bench space and can be easily moved around the lab or a department.
Xenon Lamp
The xenon lamp is a long lasting, high-energy lamp that is covered by a one year warranty.
