The Model 6505 UV Visible Range Spectrophotometer offers all the above features in the 6500 but with increased scanning range of 190nm - 1100nm through the use of a deuterium lamp.
Wide Range of operation - The Model 6500 Visible Spectrophotometer can
be used between 320 and 1100nms (at 0.1 nm intervals), whilst the Model 6505
UV/Visible Spectrophotometer extends this range to between 190 and 1100nms (at
0.1nm intervals). Photo metrics, Spectrum
scanning, Multi-wavelength,
Quantitation and Kinetic measurements are
all implemented in a user friendly manner.
Graphics Display - Both models feature ¼ VGA back lit monochrome LCD
giving a clear readout of calibration data, sample data and all set-up
options.
Keypad - A simple, easy to use, keypad facilitates setting experimental
parameters and initiating sample analysis procedures.
Lamp Housings - A removable rear panel allows easy access to the Halogen
lamp (on both instruments) and the Deuterium lamp (on the Model 6505).
Sample Compartment - A large compartment is fitted to the instrument to
house the full range of accessories developed for the 6500 series. Various sizes
of quartz, glass and plastic cuvettes are available for sample volumes down to
50µl.
Printer - A 40 column impact mechanism printer can be fitted to either
instrument to allow a hard copy of all readings to be produced. The printer is
capable of reproducing spectrum, kinetics and quantitation scans graphically for
future reference along with appropriate statistics. The 6500 series also
includes a Centronics Parallel Port drives a IBM PC compatible desktop
printer.
Good Laboratory Practice - This is supported by a series of features. A
user set identification number is be entered into any instrument (up to 20
digits in length) and this number will appear on any printouts produced by the
instrument. Also contained on each printout is a sample number, the sample
reading, the units of measurement, the wavelength of analysis and the current
time and date. The
instruments are supported by traceable calibration standards to provide the
on-going accuracy required for Good Laboratory Practice protocols. Each unit
carries the CE mark and is covered by a three year warranty.
NOTE: The deuterium lamp is warranted for 1 year.
Data Handling and Interfacing - Both instruments incorporate a
bi-directional RS232 interface allowing remote operation, calibration and
interrogation by an external personal computer. This operates over a fixed baud
rate of 1200 bits per second. Results can be downloaded to a personal computer
by a single touch of the print key.
Automatic Results Log - Readings can be stored in a data file
when the print key is pressed or at a user set time interval or by a multiple
sample assay using the eight position cell holder. Data files have a user
entered identification and can be saved in the instruments internal memory or to
a data memory card. Results saved in the instruments memory can be transferred to
a memory card.
Both the internal memory and data memory card have a 1 megabyte capacity and can
store up to 50 spectral/kinetics/quantitative scans.
Method Storage - Method storage allows all user set
parameters to be saved against a user identification. A method can be
subsequently recalled which configures the instrument (including operating mode)
to the saved parameters. The instrument settings settings for a recalled method
can be altered and subsequently saved against the same or a different method
identification. Methods can be saved in the instruments internal non-volatile
memory or to a data memory card. Methods saved in the instruments memory can be
transferred to a memory card. The instruments memory has the capacity to store a
minimum of 50 methods.

lines cord, 8 position multi-cell changer, pack of 100 x 3.5ml disposable cuvettes and English instruction manual 110 volts 60 cycles. Product is pre-set for 110V operation. |
A wide range of accessories have been developed to enhance the application potential of the 6500 series Spectrophotometers. The accessories are an integral part of the design and are completely controlled from the spectrophotometer keypad. Each accessory maximizes the benefits obtained by fitting the accessory whilst simplifying operation.
Peltier Cell This is a heated system comprising of a cell
block and an external power supply module. A temperature range of 20 to
50ºC (68 to 122ºF) is allowed at a resolution of 0.1ºC (1ºF) with a
temperature measuring accuracy of ±0.5ºC. If a temperature cell block is
fitted to either the Model 6500 or Model 6505, the cell temperature is
displayed whilst measuring and calibrating in all operating modes.
Order Codes: 643 001 (European 230V version comprising heated
cell block and power supply module) 643 031 (as previous except
US 110V version) Suitable for Models 6500 and 6505.
Sipper Pump This accessory allows a sample to be pumped into the sample chamber cuvette in either one or two stages (user selectable). A one stage transfer pumps the sample directly into the cuvette. A two stage sample uptake allows the sample to be pumped into the sipper pump tubing and then advanced to the cuvette as a second operation, thereby introducing an air gap after the sample. Once read, the sample can be flushed to waste or returned to the sample vial. The sipper pump can be operated whilst measuring or calibrating in all operating modes with the minimum of user operations. Order Code 642 001 Suitable for Models 6500 and 6505.
Multi-position cell holder
This is a
motorized 8 cell
positioning system controlled from the instrument keypad. The user can
select a sample position, which is indicated on the measurement display,
using the numeric keypad, or via a setup parameter. Cell location 8 is
automatically used for blank calibration (zero absorbance, 100%
transmittance). The multi position cell turret can be operated in all
measurements, but does not allow multiple sample assays. The
Quantitation operating mode on the Models 6500 and 6505 is only
reachable when this accessory is fitted.
Order Code 644 001 Suitable
for Models 6500 and 6505.
Vacuum Pump This accessory performs a continuous pumping operation of the sample under test. This accessory is not under any integrated software control of the instrument, but can be manually set to perform a continuous pumping operation. Order Code 645 001 Suitable for Models 6500 and 6505.
Temperature controlled sipper system This accessory combines the features of the Peltier cell and the Sipper pump. The sipper pump is used to pump the sample into the sample chamber which is temperature controlled via the Peltier Cell. Order Codes: 647 001 (European 230V version) 647 031 (US 110V version)
Integral Printer This allows a hard copy of any sample data
to be printed. In the relevant modes, a graphical printout is produced.
Each printout is accompanied by a header block of text which includes
any information pertaining to the remainder of the printout. A 40 column
impact mechanism is employed for the printing process for which
replacement ribbons and paper rolls are readily available.
Order
Codes: 641 001 (40 Column printer suitable for both Models 6500 and
6505), 060 287 Paper roll for printer, 060 288 Replacement
ribbon.

Printing reports and data
As a Good Laboratory Practice, a serial printer can
be used with the 64 Series to print out reports and data.
As a Good Laboratory Practice, a serial printer can be used with
the Genova to print out reports and data. We suggest our Part No
7062828 which offers good performance at a low cost. Data and graphs can be downloaded to the PC
with the new DataWay PC software. Expanded print options allow the
printing of graph and table on separate sheets or together with either the
graph or table on top. DataWay meets all of your lab needs: a single
click transporting data to a spreadsheet for further manipulation, timed
data logging and expanded print options is now possible.
