Overview
The Model 6320D Domed lid
Visible Range Spectrophotometer is a high quality 8nm bandpass, low cost
measurement system for routine analysis.
It has modes for Absorbance, %T and
Concentration measurement. Wavelength selection is made
electronically via a finely geared stepper motor with a displayed
resolution of 1nm.
The Model 6305 UV/Visible Range Spectrophotometer is a high quality
6nm bandpass, low
cost measurement system for routine analysis. The photometric result -
as Absorbance, Concentration or Transmittance is displayed along with a
user selectable wavelength of 198 to 1000nms (at 1nm intervals). A large
cell chamber allows use with cuvettes from 10 to 100mm path length.
The Model 6310 is an
advanced measuring system with modes for Photometrics, Concentration, Quantitation, Kinetics
and Scanning. The 6310 will meet the demands of a wide range of
applications, especially those in the clinical, veterinary, environmental,
general QC and performance testing areas.
Features (6320D and 6305)
Dual Display A customized Liquid Crystal Display gives
simultaneous readout of wavelength and %Transmittance, Absorbance or
Concentration. Concentration can be found by calibration to a standard or
by direct factor entry.
Ease Of Use The simple keypad layout and operating protocols are
designed to enable reliable operation by unfamiliar users. Photometric
calibration, including 0% Transmittance is performed by a single key
press.
Comprehensive Specification The Model 63xx Spectrophotometer
boasts an impressive optical performance for a product of this type. Stray
light is minimized by the automatic activation of internal filters, whilst
the narrow 8nm bandwidth provides the high degree of selectivity essential
for most analytical applications. A precision stepper motor gives
excellent positional control of the optical grating ensuring wavelength
selection is both accurate and highly repeatable.
Fully GLP Compliant The Model 63xx Spectrophotometer is supported by traceable
calibration standards to provide the on-going assurance of accuracy
required by Good Laboratory Practice (GLP). A wavelength calibration
routine is performed at switch on and a 0%T setting is performed
automatically during all calibration routines.
A versatile sampling
system for 6320D enables both 10mm path length cuvettes and 12.7mm
(1/2 in)
diameter test tubes to be used, as standard. Optional sample holders
include the 10-100mm adjustable cuvette holder, a 4 position cuvette
holder and a range of test tube holders covering tubes from 10 to 25mm
diameter. Flow through cuvettes can be used with the optional
sipper pump,
while water heated or electrically heated cuvette holder options are
also available.
Full Interfacing Capability There is full RS232 interfacing for
connection, via industry standard connectors to printer or PC using
63Zero PC software. Results can
be transferred to a PC by a single touch of the print key. The bi-directional
interface also allows remote interrogation
and control of the Model 63xx Spectrophotometer. An analog output is
provided for connection to a chart recorder.
Additional Features of the Model 6305 The unique xenon lamp in the Techne® model 6305 has the advantage of
offering a broad spectral source and a guaranteed life of 3 years.
NOTE: The Xenon lamp is warranted for 1 year.
This enables the running costs for the 6305 to be minimized over the
lifetime of the spectrophotometer since there is no deuterium and tungsten
lamps to replace. The key feature of the xenon lamp is that 40% of the
energy of the lamp is emitted below 400nm, with a maximum intensity
of 260nm. This means an extra 5-10 times energy in the UV region compared
to deuterium lamps and just where you need it for protein peptide or DNA
study work.

Printing
reports and data
63Zero Software
The 63-Zero PC software is the
exciting new software package to accompany the 6300 and 6305 Spectrophotometer.
The 63-Zero software will automatically detect on which port the instrument is
attached. This saves you having to manually understand and configure the
communication settings. Using the 63-Zero software, you can take measurements
remotely, enhancing the features of the instrument by the capabilities of your
computer.
The software can be used with or
without the instrument connected. In offline mode, you are able to use your
personal computer to create or edit concentration methods that can be uploaded
to the instrument when the instrument is connected to the computer.
Methods in the 63-Zero software
introduces a simple way to configure your instrument for any number of methods.
You can store comprehensive notes - including full method sheets if desired -
within your methods. Method note sheets can be printed out from the software for
reference while performing methods.
Any results in the data log window can be printed out on any attached Windows
printer, saved to file, or copied into any other supporting Windows package.
Printer
As a Good Laboratory Practice, a serial printer can be used with
the 63 Series to print out reports and data.
We suggest spectrophotometer printer PN: 7062828 which offers good performance at low cost!
A portable Thermal printer (543
501) is also available to print data.
Printer parameters:
auto line feed = on, bit rate = 1200 bps, parity = odd, and data length = 7 bit.
A standard 25 way male to male Belkin or other serial cable will
connect the 63 Series to the printer.
